Small children dressing themselves...

Here is an idea that I came up with for my 6-year old son, Peanut. We didn't put staggered shelving or lower rods in his closet when we built our house, so when I tell him to get dressed, I end up with all kinds of adventures! Usually, broken hangers, outfits that don't match, and my personal favorite...NO UNDIES!!

I came up with this idea for hopefully faster, cleaner, more complete dressing on his part!

First, I take his shirts, shorts and underwear, usually as I am folding laundry...

I fold each item in half lengthwise once...I make sure the front of the shirt is showing so he knows which shirt it is (very important:)

Then, I simply roll the clothing together with the front of the shirt on the outside...

And place them in his dresser, low enough that he can get to them. When it is time to get dressed, he pulls out one roll of clothes and dressing is ten times faster! Now, if we just knew how to get the shoes in on this...

Very smart. Good time saver, especially with school right around the corner. You were in my dream last night. We were making sloppy joes at the lake here in MN. Weird huh!
